Thank you: putting football first

I want to thank all who have donated to the GoFundMe campaign organised by Rabieh Krayem and friends to assist me with legal costs arising from the decision this month by the President, Ben Richardson, and CEO, Robert Cavallucci, of Football Queensland (FQ) to sue me for defamation for an article I wrote more than six months ago, in January 2020.

For those who are not aware, the article in question set out a series of sequential facts, based on evidence in my possession. It drew no conclusion and made no allegations of wrong doing against either man.

In an effort to keep football out of the Courts, I instructed my Lawyer on my behalf to attempt to reach agreement on a possible early resolution of the matter. Unfortunately, an agreement has not been reached.

I have always approached my involvement in football with the best of intentions. With this in mind, I reached out to Mr Richardson and Mr Cavallucci.

I do not believe that a long, drawn-out, expensive legal case is good for any of the parties involved, and particularly the game.

In light of the above, and the fact that I am locked into the current litigation because of Mr Richardson and Mr Cavallucci, I wish to thank you again for your contribution and support.

Being a defamation case, the likelihood is that I will need as much financial support that I can muster so that I can properly defend the claims.

If you believe in the right of those of us who play, love and follow football to know important facts concerning the operation of football in Australia, I would ask for your continued support in what will be a long and undoubtedly difficult battle ahead.
