FFA has announced a series of 'Community Summits' around the country, taking a leaf out of the book of the Association of Australian Football Clubs (AAFC) who did the same thing this time last year. No details beyond dates and city are available at this stage. They will occur over a ten-week period beginning next month in Brisbane, and finishing in Canberra in May.
FFA has opened “expressions of interest” to attend, suggesting that they intend limiting numbers and, perhaps, only limiting access to the 'summit' for some people.
FFA Chairman, Chris Nikou, said community consultation is an important first step for the Board.
“We want to hear from as many members of the football community as possible over the next few months about the issues that are most important to them, so we can continue to improve our game. We will use the feedback from our stakeholders during these forums to help guide the development of the next four-year strategic plan.
“We want our players, our clubs and our fans to have the opportunity to help shape the future of our game,” he said.
As well as the Board, the summits will be attended by FFA's senior management team who will provide updates on:
NPL restructure
Work undertaken on facilities with Government
Youth development pathways
Junior participation programs and
Coach and referee development
A separate fan forum, to be held in Melbourne and live-streamed for those outside Melbourne, will provide A-League and W-League fans an opportunity to comment on the league’s strategic direction, stadium experience, active support and marketing. Details are yet to be announced.
